Java Jam Benefit for WHS

Milam Street Cooffe Shop and the Wharton Java Jam Band extend a special invitation to Wharton's public school teachers to enjoy music and a pot-luck supper while raising much needed funds to renovate Wharton High School's weight room.

School kids have raised $6,000 with a car wash, so now we think a show of support from teachers and friends of teachers would be much welcomed.

Java Jam is normally held the fourth Friday of each month, but this month's event will be Sept. 20th so it won't conflict the the varsity football game on Friday night. You may call Milam Street Coffe Shop at 282-9771 for reservations or more information.
Dear Mr.

The best kept secret is Wharton, Texas.  City of Wharton and the Wharton Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) are prepared to answer any issues for establishing residential, industrial and retail developments in our attainment community for the following reasons:

1.       The Intermodal Kansas City Southern Intermodal HUB is 9 ½ miles from Wharton and we are 60 miles from Port Freeport.  All major and private trucking firms travel Hwy 59 (future I-69) and will take advantage of the return.
2.       Logistically, Wharton offers small tracts certified by the Greater Houston Partnership within our 49 acres business park for development along Hwy 59.  The site has a gentle slope of less than a 1% grade in a suburban area for industrial use meeting all your utility requirements ( phase 3 electricity, gas line adjacent to site, City’s water and wastewater)  We have an environmental Phase I and soils test on this site.  A larger 580 acre tract is also available along the Kansas City Rail line.
3.       We have numerous tracts totalling 6,000 acres which are prime candidates for various forms of development.
4.       Our diverse community has employers from Taiwan, Italy, Bolivia and Brazil to name a few.
5.       Wharton, Texas is 56 miles southwest of downtown Houston.  Wharton is 1 ½ hour from Houston’s Bush or Hobby Airports.   Wharton Regional Airport welcomes commercial jets.

Please visit our web site www.whartonedc.com for a snapshot or summary of our economy.   Do not hesitate to call if you should have any questions.
Sincerely,
David L. Schroeder
